The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team faced a challenging match against Carthage College, ranked 10th in the nation. The match took place on March 9 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Despite their efforts, IWU was unable to secure a win and lost in straight sets with scores of 25-20, 25-12, and 25-18.
Illinois Wesleyan's team concluded the game with a total of 27 kills but struggled with a .070 attacking percentage. In contrast, Carthage achieved 40 kills with a .421 attacking percentage. The Firebirds also dominated other statistics, leading blocks by 12-2 and digs by 32-22 while recording 36 assists compared to IWU's 25.
Senior player Michael Eastman from Chicago led Illinois Wesleyan with an impressive performance, achieving 11 kills on a .292 attacking percentage and contributing four digs. Sophomore Jace Milka from Bolingbrook was notable for his defensive play with seven digs and added two kills to his record. Junior Vince DiCosola from Aurora played a crucial role in orchestrating the team's attacks by securing a team-high of 15 assists.
Looking ahead, the Titans will continue their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schedule with an upcoming home match against North Central College on March 16. The first serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
