City of Fairbury City Council met Sept. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton Jr, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, Bill Schmidgall.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the September 4, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 8-0 YES- Norris Endres Hoselton Jr Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

➢ Chief McCormick swore in new police officers Adrian Corley, Hunter Killion, Sean Drown, Sam Webb, and Christopher Watkins

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets - Lonnie Rhoads, Superintendent – absent

→ Fire – Josh Hoselton, Chief - none

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent - none

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – absent

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief - none

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent –

➢ Downtown sidewalk project has begun

➢ The Street Dept. completed the 2nd & Walnut ADA compliance project

➢ IDOT is in the beginning planning phase of the Route 24 project

→ Legal – Matt Schrock, City Attorney - none

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris - none

→ Alderman Endres – none

→ Alderman Hoselton Jr inquired about rail road crossing repair.

→ Alderman Kinate asked for an update on downtown sidewalk repair.

→ Alderman Weber - none

→ Alderman Hoffman - none

→ Alderman Tipton – none

→ Alderman Schmidgall inquired about cleaning the water tower.

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Endres to approve maintenance agreement with Braniff Communications for emergency sirens. Motion carried 8-0 YES - Norris Endres Hoselton Jr Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Motion by Weber, second by Hoselton Jr to approve an ordinance establishing a two way stop at the intersection of E Elm St and 6th St. Motion carried 7-1 YES – Norris Endres Hoselton Jr Kinate Weber Hoffman Schmidgall NO - Tipton

C. Motion by Endres, second by Hoffman to approve 4 quotes from the Fire Dept for hydraulic extrication tools purchase. Motion carried 8-0 YES - Norris Endres Hoselton Jr Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

D. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Kinate to approve ordinance and final plat for White Addition PUD. Motion carried 8-0 YES – Norris Endres Hoselton Jr Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

E. Motion by Endres, second by Tipton to approve $52,370 quote for a Bobcat with tracks replace skid steer for the Wastewater Department. Motion carried 8-0 YES – Norris Endres Hoselton Jr Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

F. Motion by Hoffman, second by Weber to approve a $1,000 donation to Fairview Haven’s annual Harvest of Sharing Benefit Supper and Silent Auction

11. Other Items for Discussion & Information

➢ ESDA meeting will be Nov 4th at 6 p.m. at Edelman’s Warehouse
