After clinching the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship with an undefeated record in league play, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team is shifting focus to non-conference matches. The Titans, boasting a 19-6 record, are set to host Washington University in St. Louis for a Halloween match on Thursday, October 31 at 7 p.m.
The Titans recently triumphed over Carroll University on Tuesday night, winning in four sets. Key players included juniors Taylor French and Hannah Tellor, who led the offense with 14 and nine kills respectively. French also contributed five aces. Sophomore Sophia Feeney and fifth-year Jordan Pierce supported the attack with 20 and 18 assists respectively. Junior Kannyn Boyd led defensively with 25 digs, closely followed by French with 21.
Taylor French leads the team this season with 385 kills, averaging 4.10 per set. Hannah Tellor follows with 202 kills at a .356 attack percentage, while freshman Alex Bardouniotis has contributed 192 kills at an average of 2.82 per set. In service aces, French leads with 65, followed by Bardouniotis and Feeney.
Feeney is leading in assists for the Titans this season with a total of 408, averaging 5.16 per set. Senior Abby Erdman follows with 297 assists while Pierce has accumulated 245 assists so far and needs just thirteen more to reach a career milestone of one thousand assists.
Defensively, Kannyn Boyd tops the team statistics with 398 digs averaging nearly five per set. Eleanor Palmer leads net defense efforts with seventy-one blocks this season.
The upcoming match against WashU marks their twentieth encounter since their series began in nineteen ninety-eight; WashU currently holds a fourteen to five advantage in past meetings.
In addition to the game itself, there will be a costume contest and canned goods drive held during the event.
