Illinois State volleyball heads to Indiana for conference matches

The Illinois State volleyball team is set to travel to Indiana for two Missouri Valley Conference matches. The Redbirds, holding an 11-13 overall record and a 6-5 conference record, will face Evansville and Indiana State this weekend.

The first match against the Purple Aces is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. CT. On Saturday, they will play against the Sycamores at 5 p.m. CT.

Illinois State senior setter Mekaila Aupiu has made a significant impact since joining the team in 2024. She ranks second nationally with 970 assists, averaging 9.70 assists per set.

The Redbirds lead the Missouri Valley Conference in team kills (1,258) and team assists (1,172), placing them third and fourth nationally in these categories. They are also ranked within the top-15 nationally for team digs (1,554) and total attacks (3,436).

Junior Aida Shadewald reached a milestone by surpassing 1,000 career kills during a match against Drake on October 19. She is one of six MVC players with over 300 kills this season.

Freshman Khenedi Guest continues to impress in her debut season with a .392 hitting percentage and 117 kills across 42 sets in conference play.
