Illinois State swim team achieves top-ten finishes at SIU/Illinois Tri-Meet

The Illinois State Swimming and Diving team achieved notable results at the SIU/Illinois Tri-Meet in Carbondale, Illinois. The team secured three top-five finishes, including Selena Corona's fifth place on the three-meter diving board with a score of 196.45. In swimming events, the relay team consisting of Chloe Tyler, Sydney Hoff, Mia Snow, and Ella Turken also placed fifth. Lauren Wisdom finished fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:27.26.

In the 200-yard medley relay, juniors Chloe Tyler and Ella Turken, along with seniors Sydney Hoff and Mia Snow, finished fifth with a time of 1:43.82. Senior Lauren Wisdom placed fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:27.26, while freshman Hope Westphal came seventh at 10:55.73.

In the 100-yard freestyle event, Adi Luker secured ninth place with a time of 55.83 and Giulia Basco followed in tenth place at 56.43. Sydney Hoff took ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke clocking at 1:08.00, while Shelby Gourley was tenth at 1:09.08. Chloe Tyler achieved eighth place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.67; Delaney Boulden finished ninth at 58.21.

Senior Mia Snow claimed second place in the 100-fly event with a time of 55:34 and also took eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.24; Ella Turken completed this event in tenth place with a time of 24.35.

In the longer distance events, seniors Lauren Hervey and Lauren Wisdom placed sixth and seventh respectively in the 500-yard freestyle; Hervey clocked a time of 5:08.38 while Wisdom recorded a finish at 5:06.01.

The relay team composed of Adi Luker, Cassidy Carey, Alex Davis, and Sylvia Admire earned sixth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay finishing at a time of 3:43.22.

On diving boards besides Corona's performance on three meters, freshmen Emma Thompson and Isabel Poggenklass finished seventh and eighth respectively; Thompson scored an impressive mark of 185.45 while Poggenklass posted 183.70.

Looking ahead to future competitions, "The Redbirds will hit the road for two consecutive meets as they travel to University of Purdue on November 21 for Purdue Invitational before traveling to Greensboro N.C., for US Open on December 4."
