The Illinois State University Cross Country team participated in the MVC Championship at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The women's team secured a sixth-place finish with 126 points, while the men's team achieved a second-place finish with 51 points.
Senior Mattison Plummer was the top performer for the Redbirds, finishing 11th and setting a new program record in the 6k with a time of 20:41.5. Junior Maggie Reed also made it to the program's top-10 list with her time of 21:03.2.
In the men's category, fifth-year William Sinclair won the individual title in the 8k, setting a new school record with his time of 23:02.9. This victory marks Sinclair as the first Redbird to win an individual championship since Kevin Koski in 2021. Teammate Mathis Chavand finished second with a personal best of 23:16.5, contributing to a strong performance for the team alongside senior Zack Loomis and junior Yusuf Baig who both finished within the top ten.
The event saw six record-breaking times by Redbird athletes, marking it as one of their most successful performances at a single event.
