Illinois State women’s tennis secures victories at Redbird Duals

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois State women's tennis team achieved four singles victories and a complete sweep in doubles on the first day of the Redbird Duals at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington. The event marks the end of the 2024-25 fall tennis season for the team. Doubles matches will commence around 9 a.m., with singles starting at 11:00 a.m.

In singles competition, junior Lana Caculovic triumphed over Zoe Adkins from the University of Omaha in three sets, scoring 1-6, 6-1, 10-5. At No.2, junior Silvia Pomarolli defeated Khayli Buckels from Omaha with scores of 6-0, 6-3. Graduate student Elena Jankulovska secured a win against UNO's Nina Weise with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Nicole Iosio rounded out singles play by winning a tiebreaker against Katelynn Kock from Mavericks by scores of 6-7 (3), 6-4, and an eventual match loss at 1-6.

In doubles action, Caculovic and Pomarolli as the No.1 pair overcame Aleyla Wooten and Luisa Renovales from Eastern Illinois with a score of 6-4. Freshman Emma Lindh teamed up with Jankulovska to defeat EIU's Ornella Lomenzo and Charleigh Fay decisively. The duo of Iosio and Zoe Limparis completed day one's doubles matches by beating Nina Moravel and Ainsley Heidbreder from Washington University in St Louis by a score of 6-2.
