Illinois Wesleyan faces University of Chicago in final regular-season road contest

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team is set to face the University of Chicago in a non-conference match. The Titans, with a record of 19-7, will travel for their final road contest of the regular season. They will compete against the 18th-ranked Maroons at Ratner Athletic Center on Wednesday, November 6, at 6 p.m.

In their previous match, Illinois Wesleyan experienced a four-set loss to Washington University in St. Louis. Sophomore Cailin Shannon stood out with a career-high of 13 kills and a .375 attack percentage. Sophia Feeney led with 22 assists while Kannyn Boyd contributed with 18 digs.

Throughout the season, junior Taylor French has been instrumental in leading the team's offense. French ranks nationally with her performance statistics including 397 kills and an average of 4.05 kills per set. Her service aces and points have also placed her among the top players in Division III.

Sophia Feeney leads as one of three key setters for the team with 430 assists this season. Senior Abby Erdman and fifth-year Jordan Pierce follow closely behind in assist counts, with Pierce nearing a career milestone.

Defensively, Kannyn Boyd has achieved significant numbers in digs this season, supported by Taylor French and Alex Bardouniotis who have also made notable contributions on defense.

The upcoming game marks the twentieth meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and Chicago since their series began in 1999. IWU holds a slight lead over Chicago with a series record of 10-9 and claimed victory in their last encounter on October 27, 2023.
