The Illinois State men's basketball team is set to play its first road game of the 2024-25 season against North Dakota State. This match marks the team's inaugural game in North Dakota, taking place at the Scheels Center in Fargo on November 7, with a tip-off scheduled for 7:30 PM.

Both teams have notable connections through players who previously played for their opponent. Illinois State's Boden Skunberg spent four seasons with North Dakota State, while NDSU's Luke Kasubke was part of Illinois State for two seasons.

Illinois State freshman Jack Daugherty had an impressive debut by making five three-pointers, placing him among the top performers in program history. Additionally, sophomore Johnny Kinziger scored 31 points against Indiana State last season, marking a significant achievement for a freshman in recent years.

Doug Collins, a legendary figure associated with Illinois State basketball and other professional roles, was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on October 13. His career spanned various levels of basketball, including being an NBA player and coach.

In terms of preseason expectations, Illinois State was picked to finish fourth in its conference poll. The team features several players from Wisconsin, tying them for third place among Division I schools for having the most Wisconsin natives.

North Dakota State enters this game following a strong win over Jamestown. Jacari White led his team with 22 points during that match.
