Village of Gridley Village Board met Oct. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Jeff Benedict opened with a word of prayer.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Susan Laiming, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. No employees were present.

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the September meeting minutes. There were none. Jay made a motion to approve the minutes and Michael seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming abstain, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Michael made a motion to approve the bills and Susan seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Trustees reviewed the Treasurer's report. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Jay seconded. All present answered in favor.

Michael presented copies to each trustee of a draft tax levy ordinance. Trustees should review the draft and contact the law office if they wish to see any changes.

Jeff presented Corrpro's annual service contract for the water tower. The cost is $900 for the annual inspection. Kevin made a motion to accept the contract. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

The trustees discussed trick or treat hours. After discussion, they determined that the hours would be from 5pm to 7pm on October 31.

Michael presented Ordinance #661 prohibiting semi-tractor/trailer parking except in limited circumstances. After discussion, Michael made a motion to pass Ordinance 661. Susan seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Daniel Thurmon, on behalf of the Christkindl committee, asked that the village board allow Center Street from 3rd to 4th be blocked off for Christkindl on December 7. Times are yet to be determined. The committee would also like to include a flyer with the water bill. After discussion, the trustees agreed to the requests.

Susan reported that the Gridley Library requested permission to put signs along the trail at Westview Park in order to create a "storywalk." Susan and the property committee have met but want to gather further information before a determination is made.

Marilyn reported that the North Lift Station pump is no longer working. A new pump has been ordered and G.A. Rich has been contacted for a quote for installation. The quote has not yet been received, but it should be less than the South Lift Station install. Richard made a motion to approve the pump and installation for the North Lift Station. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.
