Illinois State University's women's basketball team is set to host Le Moyne in their home opener at CEFCU Arena on Sunday. The Redbirds, currently holding a 1-1 record, aim to recover from their recent defeat as they face the Dolphins, who are still seeking their first win of the season.

This upcoming game marks the first encounter between Illinois State and Le Moyne, which is transitioning from Division II to Division I. Following this match, Illinois State will continue its series of first-time opponents with games against Harvard and Boise State later this month.

Addi Martin has been recognized as the Valley Newcomer of the Week after her impressive debut performance against Northwestern. In that game, she achieved a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, contributing significantly to Illinois State's victory over a Big Ten opponent.

Nevaeh Thomas also delivered a notable performance earlier this week with 21 points and 10 rebounds against Saint Louis. This achievement made her the fourth Redbird in two seasons to record a double-double with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The Redbirds have enjoyed strong performances at home in recent years. Last season, they recorded a 14-2 home record at CEFCU Arena, marking one of their best single-season performances. Over the past two seasons, they have maintained an impressive 25-5 record at home.
