Illinois State sets new record in win against Trinity Christian

The Illinois State men's basketball team achieved a new program record with 20 three-pointers in their 107-52 victory over Trinity Christian. This marks the second-highest number of successful three-point shots in Missouri Valley Conference history. Freshman Jack Daugherty led the Redbirds with 28 points, tying the school record for most three-pointers made and attempted in a single game.

In total, ten out of eleven players scored during the match. Dalton Banks and Landon Wolf each contributed 14 points, Johnny Kinziger added 13 points, and Chase Walker scored 12 points. Ty Pence narrowly missed double figures with nine points.

Rebounding was also strong for Illinois State, with Jordan Davis and Caden Boser leading the team by securing six rebounds each. The Redbirds ended the game with a total of 46 rebounds, resulting in a +27-rebounding margin. Dalton Banks had five assists, topping the team's assist chart as all players recorded at least one assist.

Illinois State's shooting performance was notable, converting 41 out of 66 shots to achieve a .621 field goal percentage for their second consecutive game shooting over .600. They were also effective from long range, hitting half of their forty attempts.

The Redbirds began strongly by scoring the first six points and maintained control throughout the game. A series of runs allowed them to extend their lead significantly before concluding with a final score margin of 55 points.

Looking ahead, Illinois State will travel to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands to participate in the Paradise Jam tournament against McNeese on November 22.

Trinity Christian's top performers included Danny Staskunas with 14 points, Tylan Harris contributing 12 points, and Mac Parmelee adding another ten.

The Illinois State starting lineup featured Dalton Banks, Landon Wolf, Johnny Kinziger, Ty Pence, and Chase Walker for the third consecutive game this season.

Jack Daugherty set career highs with his performance while Cade Norris scored his first collegiate points during this match-up.
