The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team has advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament for the first time since 2018. The Titans achieved this by sweeping Franklin & Marshall College with set scores of 28-26, 25-13, and 25-23. This victory improved their season record to 23-9, while Franklin & Marshall concluded their season with a 23-7 record.
With this win, Illinois Wesleyan will face the winner of a match between Marietta College and St. John Fisher on November 22 at Ban Johnson Arena.
Junior Taylor French made an impactful debut in the tournament, recording a team-high of 16 kills on a .394 clip. She also contributed four aces, six digs, and three blocks. Her teammates Hannah Tellor and Alex Bardouniotis supported with double-digit kills as well.
The team's attack was led by Sophia Feeney and Abby Erdman who recorded assists throughout the match. Defensively, Kannyn Boyd led in digs while Eleanor Palmer excelled in blocking.
Illinois Wesleyan began strong but faced challenges from Franklin & Marshall before securing each set victory. Their performance included notable plays from multiple team members that helped them maintain control during crucial moments.
They now await their next opponent as they prepare for tomorrow's second-round matchup.
