The Illinois State Redbirds are set to face the McNeese Cowboys in the 2024 Paradise Jam, aiming to extend their three-game winning streak. The game is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. (CT) at the Sports and Fitness Center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Illinois State has shown impressive performance early in the season, particularly in shooting accuracy and free throw percentage. "ISU guard Dalton Banks is the first college basketball player since the 2022-23 season to finish perfect from the field with at least six attempts, perfect from three, and perfect from the charity stripe, while being 6-2 or shorter," according to a team statement.

Freshman Jack Daugherty has also made a mark by tying a school record with eight three-point baskets against Trinity Christian. His achievements place him among notable freshmen nationwide this season.

The Redbirds have been efficient on offense, making significant strides in reducing turnovers and improving shooting percentages. Their free throw percentage ranks third nationally, reflecting their focus on fundamental skills.

Meanwhile, McNeese enters the tournament with a balanced record of two wins and two losses. Sincere Parker led his team with 18 points in their recent victory over North Texas. Alyn Breed remains their top scorer despite missing recent games.

The Illinois State men's basketball team was picked to finish fourth in a preseason poll, with Johnny Kinziger named to the First Team All-America Watch List by Bracketeer.org.

This matchup will test both teams' capabilities as they vie for success in this early-season tournament setting.
