Illinois Wesleyan women's volleyball ends season after NCAA tournament loss

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team concluded its 2024 season with a loss in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The team was defeated by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in three sets, ending their season with a record of 24-10.

Illinois Wesleyan lost with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-20. Juniors Taylor French and Kannyn Boyd were recognized for their performances by being named to the regional all-tournament team.

Sophomore Sophia Feeney and senior Abby Erdman contributed significantly with 13 and 11 assists, respectively. French led her team in kills with eight. Junior Hannah Tellor achieved six kills on a .462 hitting percentage, while sophomore Eleanor Palmer added five kills.

On defense, Boyd led with 20 digs. French and freshman Alex Bardouniotis each provided ten digs. Senior Morgan Harrington recorded three blocks, while Tellor and Palmer each had two blocks.

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh hit at a .320 clip compared to Illinois Wesleyan's .198 attack percentage. Although Illinois Wesleyan held a slight advantage in blocks (4-2), UW-Oshkosh outperformed them in digs (57-48) and kills (52-34). Both teams ended the match with four aces each.

This match marked the end of collegiate careers for several Illinois Wesleyan players: fifth-year Jordan Pierce, seniors Jessie Sariev, Carly Kuehl, Abby Erdman, and Morgan Harrington. This senior class has been instrumental in securing two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships as well as two CCIW Tournament Championships during their tenure.
