Illinois State Swim and Dive achieves success at Purdue Invitational

Illinois State Swim and Dive concluded their participation in the Purdue Invitational with a strong performance, achieving 32 season-best times across various events. The team also set two lifetime bests in the 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle.

Hailey Fris led the team in the 200 backstroke with a lifetime best time of 2:04.05. Lauren Hervey excelled in the 100 freestyle, recording a personal best of 53.11.

The Redbirds secured 15 top-16 finishes on the final day at Morgan J Burke Aquatic Center, including a notable performance in the 400-yard relay. Seven athletes achieved personal bests in multiple events, namely Chloe Tyler, Cassidy Carey, Hailey Fris, Shelby Gourley, Giulia Basco, Lauren Hervey, and Emma Feltzer.

In specific event highlights:

- In the 1650 free, Lauren Wisdom placed seventh with a time of 17:15.13.

- Chloe Tyler secured tenth place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.66.

- Emma Feltzer finished ninth in the 100 freestyle clocking at 50.32 seconds.

- Giulia Basco led her team in the 200 butterfly finishing eleventh at 2:06.13.

- The relay team composed of Ella Turken, Sylvia Admire, Emma Feltzer and Mia Snow completed their race sixth with a mark of 3:24.39.

- In platform diving, Eva Reyes claimed thirteenth place scoring at184.30 points.

The team's next competition is scheduled for December when they travel to Greensboro for the US Open from December 4th to December7th.
