In Cedar Falls, Iowa, the Illinois State volleyball team faced a tough opponent in Northern Iowa during the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament semifinals on Monday. The match concluded with Northern Iowa defeating Illinois State in straight sets.

Illinois State struggled to gain momentum throughout the game. In the first set, they initially took advantage of an error by Northern Iowa but soon found themselves trailing. Despite a close start, Northern Iowa surged ahead to secure a 25-13 victory.

The second set was closely contested with 11 ties within the first 30 points. However, after reaching a 15-15 deadlock, two errors by Illinois State allowed Northern Iowa to establish a three-point lead and eventually win the set 25-19.

Northern Iowa dominated early in the third set with a 6-0 run and maintained control for most of the game. Although Illinois State managed to narrow the gap with their own 9-0 run, it wasn't enough to overcome Northern Iowa's lead. The Panthers secured the final set at 25-16.

Key performers for Illinois State included Caitlyn Little with eight kills, Sammi Bunch who contributed 13 digs, and Mekaila Aupiu who provided 22 assists and three service aces. Khenedi Guest also made an impact with three total blocks.

Illinois State ended their season with an overall record of 17 wins and 16 losses, including an 11-7 record in conference play.
