Elyce Knudsen and Doneelah Washington have been recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference for their performances at the 2024 Gulf Coast Showcase in Fort Myers, Florida. Both athletes played pivotal roles in securing victories for Illinois State.

Knudsen received the Valley Newcomer of the Week award after averaging 14.6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal per game. She achieved a shooting percentage of 58.6% from the field and 62.5% from beyond the arc during her time in Florida. Notably, she scored a career-high of 23 points against New Mexico State, marking her second 20-point game in just five appearances this season.

This recognition makes Knudsen the second player from Illinois State to receive this honor this season; Addi Martin was previously awarded on November 11.

Washington was named Freshman of the Week after reaching double-figure scoring consecutively for the first time in her college career. She averaged 8.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game with a shooting accuracy of 62.5% across three games at the showcase. Her standout performance included achieving season highs with 11 points and nine rebounds against High Point.

Washington is now one of two Redbirds to earn MVC Freshman of the Week honors over the past three seasons, following Shannon Dowell.
