The Illinois Wesleyan University swimming and diving teams are set to compete in the Carthage Classic in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The event will take place from Thursday, December 5, to Saturday, December 7. Hosted by Carthage College, the meet will also feature teams from Carroll University, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, St. Norbert College, Lake Forest College, and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
The Carthage Classic follows a prelim-final format over three days, similar to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships. Thursday's events begin at 4:30 p.m., with preliminary heats starting at 9 a.m. on Friday and finals at 5 p.m. The schedule remains the same on Saturday with diving breaks at 11 a.m. and noon between swimming preliminaries and finals.
Last year, both the men's and women's teams from Illinois Wesleyan finished in fifth place at this event. Carthage College secured first place for the men's events while St. Norbert College won for the women’s events. Natalie Porter from Illinois Wesleyan made an impressive performance last year by finishing eighth overall with a time of 18:45.22.
For those interested in following the event live, streams will be available on IWUsports.com under the men's and women's swimming and diving sections. Results will be updated daily after each session concludes.
