Illinois Wesleyan continues strong showing at Carthage Classic

The Illinois Wesleyan University swim and dive teams continued their participation in the Carthage Classic on Friday, December 6. The event featured morning preliminary rounds followed by finals in the evening, with the top-18 performers from preliminaries advancing to the finals.

In the women's 400-yard medley relay, Isabella Cano, Julia Jozwiak, Sam Borre, and Kayleigh Kuschewski finished ninth with a time of 4:20.70. On the men's side, Tate Thomas, Jacob Nacional, Jay Jenkins, and Carter Dilger secured tenth place at 3:46.22.

Kayleigh Kuschewski achieved seventh place in the women's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:41.15 and twelfth in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:20.86. Sam Borre finished fifteenth in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.89. Natalie Porter recorded seventh place in the women's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.64.

For the men’s events, Jay Jenkins and Ben Huk participated in the men's 200-yard breaststroke finishing sixteenth and seventeenth respectively with times of 2:25.68 and 2:31.08. Tate Thomas finished seventeenth in the men's 200-yard backstroke clocking a time of 2:10.84 while Carter Dilger placed fourteenth in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.64.

The day concluded with both men’s and women’s teams competing in the 200-yard freestyle relay events; Emily Marks, Kayleigh Kuschewski, Julia Jozwiak, and Isabella Cano completed theirs at eleventh place for women while Jenkins swam alongside Dilger, Colin McKibben, and Nacional to finish fourteenth for men.

Notably, eleven Titan swimmers set personal records during this segment of competition including Cano, Kuschewski, Marks among others on both teams.

The final day is scheduled to begin Saturday morning at nine o'clock for preliminary rounds followed by finals starting at five p.m., available for viewing through live stream links provided on iwusports.com where results will be posted post-event completion.
