Illinois Wesleyan swim teams conclude Carthage Classic

The Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) men's and women's swim and dive teams wrapped up their participation in the Carthage Classic, a three-day event held in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The final day saw ten individuals from IWU advance to the finals.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the IWU women's team finished sixth. The team comprised freshman Isabella Cano, sophomore Sam Borre, junior Kayleigh Kuschewski, and senior Emily Marks. They completed the race with a time of 1:57.09. The men's team secured a 12th-place finish with freshmen Tate Thomas, Ben Huk, Jacob Nacional, and senior Colin McKibben clocking in at 1:47.03.

Senior Carter Dilger delivered a strong performance in the men's 200-yard butterfly, finishing fifth overall with a time of 2:02.75. In the same event, Jacob Nacional took eleventh place with a time of 2:05.19. Junior Jay Jenkins also placed eleventh in the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.80.

On the women's side, three Titans reached the finals in the 200-yard freestyle event. Junior Natalie Porter placed eleventh with a time of 2:03.76; senior Alexa Starkey was fifteenth at 2:07.09; and freshman Julia Jozwiak finished seventeenth with a time of 2:07.41. Sam Borre took thirteenth place in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.04.

The competition concluded with both men’s and women’s teams participating in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The women’s team comprising Marks, Jozwiak, Starkey, and Cano finished tenth at 3:54.73 while Dilger, Thomas, McKibben, and Jenkins helped secure an eleventh-place finish for the men’s team at 3:24.32.

Following this eventful meet at Carthage Classic, "The Titans will take a break for the Holidays and will return to competition against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology," scheduled for January 11th at Rose-Hulman Natatorium.
