Illinois State University's softball team has unveiled its 2025 schedule, which includes several games against high-profile teams and matches with seven squads that participated in the 2024 NCAA tournament. The Redbirds will compete in five preseason tournaments before starting their Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) campaign on March 14 at Southern Illinois.
"We are excited to announce our 2025 spring schedule," said head coach Tina Kramos. "We have put together another highly competitive preseason slate, facing programs from almost every region of the country. With the high talent pool in the MVC, league play will be highly competitive as always, and we are excited for the challenge."
The season begins with a return to the University of South Florida Tournament in Tampa from February 6-8. The Redbirds will face Delaware and host team USF Bulls on opening day, followed by Georgia Southern and Florida on Friday, concluding with Michigan on Saturday.
Next, they travel to Mexico for the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge from February 13-15 at Nancy Almaraz Stadium. They will compete against BYU, FIU, Indiana, and North Dakota State.
Following this is a three-day event at the Tennessee-Chattanooga Invitational from February 21-23. ISU's opponents include Southeast Missouri State, Indiana again, Indiana State, Chattanooga, and Lamar.
The Middle Tennessee State Classic runs from February 28 to March 2 in Murfreesboro. ISU faces Middle Tennessee and Ball State twice each before ending with Ohio.
The final preseason tournament is hosted by Central Arkansas from March 7-9. The Redbirds play Omaha twice and Central Arkansas thrice over three days.
Post-tournament play starts with an away game against Illinois on March 12 before conference matches begin against Southern Illinois on March 14-16. Their home opener is against Belmont from March 21-23 at Marian Kneer Stadium.
April features various matches including a series at Drake from April 4-6 and a game against Iowa on April 8. They then play Valparaiso away from April 11-13 before hosting Missouri State from April 17-19.
The regular season concludes with a series at Murray State from May 2-4 ahead of the MVC Softball Championship held by UNI between May 7-10 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
