Illinois State faces Chicago State as they aim to extend winning streak

Illinois State women's basketball team is set to face Chicago State in an upcoming match at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago. The game, scheduled for Sunday, marks the fifth meeting between these two teams, with Illinois State leading the series 4-0.

In their last encounter, Illinois State secured a decisive victory over Chicago State with a score of 102-47. During that game, DeAnna Wilson and Kate Bullman achieved double-doubles, contributing significantly to their team's success. Wilson scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Bullman added 10 points and recorded a career-high of 17 rebounds.

This match will be Illinois State's third against an in-state opponent this season. The Redbirds have been successful against local rivals since the start of the 2019-2020 season, boasting a record of 37 wins and nine losses against in-state teams.

The Redbirds demonstrated balanced scoring in their recent win over St. Francis on December 5th, with six players reaching double figures. Over the past two seasons, they have consistently had multiple players score in double digits during games.

Illinois State's shooting performance has been strong this season, ranking them 16th nationally and first in their conference with a field goal percentage of 49.4%. Notable individual performances include Addi Martin (61.8%), Nevaeh Thomas (60.8%), and Elyce Knudsen (51.4%), who are among the top shooters in their conference.
