Illinois Wesleyan women's tennis team competes at ITA Regional after eight years

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team concluded its participation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional, held at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This event marked the team's first appearance at the tournament since 2016.

Sophomores Amber Ehrlich and Olivia Bell made their ITA debut with a victory in doubles. They overcame Anna Fletcher and Nicole Flock from Capital University with a score of 8-7(4). However, they were defeated in the round of 32 by Erin Storrer and Lillia Walter from Otterbein College, ranked ninth, with a score of 8-3.

In singles play, Ehrlich faced Lilliam Dockal from Lake Forest College but lost both sets 6-4, 6-3. In the consolation round of 64, she was defeated by Oberlin College's Anna Pastore with scores of 6-2 in both sets.

Bell began her singles matches against Caitlin VanWinkle from Denison University and lost both sets 6-0. She continued to the consolation round of 64 where she was defeated by Caroline Sproule of Wittenberg University with scores of 6-1, 6-2.

Looking ahead, the Titans will return to dual play as they host Concordia University Chicago at Evergreen Racquet Club on Monday, September 30. The match is set to start at 4 p.m.
