Illinois Wesleyan women's tennis team loses to Carthage College

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team faced a setback against Carthage College on Saturday, October 5. The defeat leaves IWU with an overall record of 5-3 and a conference record of 2-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Meanwhile, Carthage College improved its overall standing to 4-3 and its league play record to 4-3.

In doubles competition, sophomores Amber Ehrlich from Springfield, Illinois, and Olivia Bell from Bloomington, Illinois, secured a victory at No. 1 doubles with a score of 6-0. Bell also achieved success in singles play at No. 4 singles by defeating her opponent with scores of 6-2, 6-2.

Illinois Wesleyan University remains in Wisconsin for their next match against Carroll University scheduled for Sunday, October 6, starting at 10 a.m.

In the singles matches: Xingchen Liu from Carthage defeated Amber Ehrlich (IWU) with scores of 2-6, 6-4, and a tiebreaker of 10-5; Sasha Manojlovic (Carthage) won against Gabi Lipske (IWU) with scores of 6-1, 6-0; Giovanna Mendes (Carthage) overcame Katie Van Heuklon (IWU) with scores of 6-4, 6-4; Olivia Bell (IWU) triumphed over Greta Peterson (Carthage) with scores of 6-2, 6-2; Maddie Kearney (Carthage) defeated Kate Christian (IWU) with scores of 6-1, 6-2; Marie Weis (Carthage) beat Angela Zatloka (IWU) with scores of 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles competition: Amber Ehrlich and Olivia Bell from IWU defeated Sasha Manojlovic and Giovanna Mendes from Carthage with a score of 6-0; Xingchen Liu and Maddie Kearney from Carthage won against Gabi Lipske and Kate Christian from IWU with a score of 6-1; Niki Manojlovic and Greta Peterson from Carthage overcame Angela Zatloka and Katie Van Heuklon from IWU with a score of 6-1.
