The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team is set to resume its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) schedule with matches against Carthage College and Carroll University. The Titans, holding a 5-2 overall record and 2-2 in conference play, will compete against the Firebirds on Saturday, October 5, at noon and face the Pioneers on Sunday, October 6, starting at 10 a.m.
Recently, the Titans achieved a decisive 7-0 victory over Concordia University Chicago. The team dominated doubles play with freshmen Katie Van Heuklon and Gabi Lipske winning their match 6-2. Olivia Bell paired with senior Kate Christian for a 6-0 win in No. 2 doubles, while Carly Edwards and Angela Zatloka secured a 6-3 victory in No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Van Heuklon, Lipske, Edwards, and Zatloka each claimed victories. Amber Ehrlich continued her strong performance by securing her sixth win of the season at No. 1 singles with set scores of 6-0, 6-1.
Illinois Wesleyan's upcoming match against Carthage marks their 37th meeting since the series began in 1989. Carthage leads the series with a record of 38-8 and won their last encounter on October 7, 2023. In that match, Ehrlich and Bell managed wins in singles despite an initial setback in doubles play.
The Titans will then head to Waukesha to face Carroll University for the thirteenth time since they first met in 1989. IWU trails in this series as well with a record of 7-5 after losing their last meeting on October 8, 2023. Ehrlich's consistent performance was highlighted by her fifth consecutive win at No.1 singles during that contest.
Carroll enters Sunday's match following a recent victory over Elmhurst University and will play Millikin University before facing IWU.
