The Illinois State Redbirds secured a win against the Saint Louis Billikens with an 81-77 victory, maintaining a lead throughout the game. Chase Walker led the team with 27 points and eight rebounds, marking his third career-high scoring game in recent matches. Johnny Kinziger contributed 20 points, while Dalton Banks and Ty Pence each added eight points to the team's total.
Banks also achieved a career-high three blocked shots early in the game and led with four assists. The Redbirds were slightly out-rebounded by the Billikens but managed to maintain their advantage through effective shooting. They made over half of their field goals and converted nearly half of their attempts from beyond the arc.
Illinois State began strong with an early lead, which they never relinquished. Despite efforts from Saint Louis to close the gap, including getting within two points in the final seconds, free throws by Kinziger and Banks secured ISU's victory.
Robbie Avila was notable for Saint Louis with 28 points, supported by Isaiah Swope and Gibson Jimerson who scored 22 and 15 points respectively.
The Redbirds are set to conclude their homestand against Northern Illinois Huskies on December 18 at CEFCU Arena.
