Illinois State University's women's basketball team secured a decisive victory over Chicago State with a score of 79-52 on Sunday at the Jones Convocation Center. This win marks their third success against an in-state rival this season.

Elyce Knudsen and Doneelah Washington both contributed significantly to the team's performance, each scoring double figures by halftime. Knudsen led with 15 points overall, including two three-pointers and three rebounds. Washington impressed with 12 points in the first quarter alone, ending the game with a career-high of 14 points.

Nevaeh Thomas achieved her second double-double of the season by recording ten rebounds and scoring nine of her total 13 points in the second half. Maya Wong also reached double figures for the fourth time this season, adding ten points and three assists to her tally.

The Redbirds established an early lead thanks to Washington's efforts, finishing the first quarter ahead at 27-15. Despite Chicago State narrowing the gap in the second quarter, Illinois State maintained a strong lead at halftime, 40-28.

The third quarter saw Illinois State outscore Chicago State by a significant margin of 27-9. Thomas excelled during this period, contributing seven points without missing a shot from the field.

Throughout their current campaign, Illinois State has frequently had multiple players score in double figures. They are currently undefeated against other teams from within Illinois this year and have maintained an impressive record against these teams over recent seasons.

In addition to their scoring prowess, Illinois State also recorded a season-high number of rebounds during this match. Their shooting accuracy was noteworthy as well, marking one of several games where they exceeded a field goal percentage of 45%.
