Illinois State University's sophomore forward, Chase Walker, has been recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Week. This accolade follows his notable performance against Saint Louis on Sunday afternoon.

Walker is receiving this MVC honor for the first time in his career. He is also the first Redbird to earn this recognition since Johnny Kinziger was awarded on February 19 after Illinois State University secured victories over Indiana State and Evansville.

Originating from Columbus, Ohio, Walker achieved a personal best by scoring 27 points against the Billikens. His shooting stats included making 10 out of 15 shots from the field, successfully hitting both of his three-point attempts, and converting five out of seven shots beyond the arc. Additionally, he contributed eight rebounds—four of which were offensive—alongside an assist and a blocked shot.

This season, Walker has averaged 15.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, having started in all ten games for ISU so far. Notably, he set career-high scoring records in three of his last four games: scoring 22 points at home against Pacific on December 7 followed by 27 points against Saint Louis. In terms of statistics, he ranks eighth nationally in KenPom's Offensive Rebounding Percentage and holds the 23rd position across the country for field goal percentage at .611.

Currently holding a record of six wins and four losses this season, the Redbirds have emerged victorious in their last two games including an 81-77 triumph over Saint Louis on Sunday. Their next game is scheduled against Northern Illinois at home on Wednesday, December 18 with a tip-off time set for 7 p.m., followed by a trip to Ithaca, New York to face Cornell Big Red on December 22 as part of their non-conference finale.
