FOIA Request to Livingston County Sheriff's Office Regarding 2024 Arrest Records on January 7, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at McLean County Times have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. The request was made for access to all arrest records from the year 2024.
Specifically, we asked for a list of all arrests made from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The requested information includes fields such as the arrestee's name, date of arrest, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also highlighted our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.
We are currently awaiting a response from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office regarding this request.
