The Illinois State Basketball Coaches Show, sponsored by The O'Brien Auto Team, will air live tonight from Avanti's in Normal. The show will feature Illinois State head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon and women's basketball head coach Kristen Gillespie.
Fans who cannot attend can listen on WJBC 1230 AM, the Varsity Network, and GoRedbirds.com. Pedon and Gillespie will discuss their recent games and upcoming matchups.
Kristen Gillespie's segment begins at 6 p.m., hosted by Greg Halbleib. She will be joined by ISU redshirt junior forward Addison Martin. Martin is averaging 10.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season, starting all 14 games for the team. The Shreveport native has scored in double digits ten times this season.
The women's team (9-7) recently split a home series against Northern Iowa and Drake. They defeated Northern Iowa 79-66 but lost to Drake. Three players scored in double figures against Drake, with Shannon Dowell leading with 14 points.
Ryan Pedon's segment follows at 6:45 p.m., hosted by John Fitzgerald and Mike Matthews. He will be joined by sophomore forward Chase Walker, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding with averages of 14.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
The men's team (10-7) narrowly lost to Northern Iowa on Saturday night with an 85-84 scoreline. Walker scored a game-high of 27 points during the match.
