The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) has released its 2024-25 women's tennis preseason rankings, placing Illinois State University third in the nine-team league. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Illinois State's team includes returning players such as graduate student Elena Jankulovska from Skopje, Macedonia, and juniors Lana Caculovic from Dugo Selo, Croatia; Zoe Limparis from Hinsdale, Illinois; Silvia Pomarolli from Cecina, Italy; and Nuria Sanz from Valencia, Spain.
Head coach Maja Kovacek has added three freshmen to the roster: Nicole Iosio from Cordenons, Italy; Emma Lindh from Malmo, Sweden; and Sophie Marie-Lowe from Wimbledon, Great Britain.
The Redbirds are set to begin their 2025 spring schedule with matches against nationally-ranked teams. They will face No. 63 Purdue on Saturday and No. 70 Iowa on Monday.
The MVC preseason poll is topped by Murray State with 78 points and six first-place votes. UIC follows with 72 points and two first-place votes. Illinois State received one first-place vote and accumulated a total of 65 points.
