The Illinois State Swim and Dive team is set to compete against the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in a two-day meet in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The event will take place on January 17 and 18 at the Glen F. Henry Pool, with diving events starting at 3 p.m. on Friday and resuming at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
This competition marks the 21st meeting between the Panthers and Redbirds, with Illinois State leading the series 14-5-1. Their first official NCAA encounter resulted in a significant victory for Illinois State during the 2005-06 season.
Recently, Illinois State secured a win over Quincy on Senior Day, capturing victories in 12 out of 14 events. Notable performances came from seniors Lauren Wisdom, Emma Feltzer, Sydney Hoff, and Mia Snow. In relay events, Chloe Tyler joined Hoff, Snow, and Feltzer to lead the team in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:46.21.
UNI recently faced Iowa State on January 11 but fell short with a score of 180-116. The upcoming meet against Illinois State will be UNI's first Missouri Valley Conference meet of the year.
In individual rankings within the conference, Emma Feltzer holds fifth place in the 50-free and eighth in the 100-free. Chloe Tyler ranks ninth in both the 50-yard backstroke and eighth in other backstroke categories. Sydney Hoff is seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke while Mia Snow is ninth in the 50-fly.
In diving competitions, Eva Reyes leads with top scores in both one-meter and three-meter events. Selena Corona follows closely behind her teammate Reyes along with Emma Thompson and Isabel Poggenklass securing top positions as well.
Looking ahead, Illinois State will conclude their regular season at the UIC Diving Invite on February 8th in Chicago.
