Illinois State University's swim and dive team had a successful start to their meet against the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Senior Eva Reyes emerged victorious in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 290.85, while senior Sydney Hoff clinched first place in the 100 breaststroke, clocking a time of 1:06.33.
The competition is set to continue tomorrow at Glen F. Henry Pool, beginning with the 1-meter diving event at 9 a.m.
In other events, Chloe Tyler, Hoff, Giulia Basco, and Emma Feltzer secured second place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:54.45. Cassidy Carey, Shelby Gourley, Ella Turken, and Lauren Hervey took third place in the same event with a time of 4:05.60.
Lauren Wisdom achieved second place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:41.38. Sylvia Admire finished third in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:57.46, while Mia Snow placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a final time of 24.22.
Giulia Basco earned second place in the 200-yard butterfly by completing it in 2:05.94. The team comprising Turken, Tyler, Admire, and Snow also secured second place in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:38.11.
Looking ahead, Illinois State's Redbirds will travel to Chicago for their next meet at the UIC Diving Invite on February 8th starting at 11 a.m.
