Illinois State swim team claims six titles despite loss to UNI

Illinois State University's swimming and diving team secured six titles during their meet against the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Despite these victories, Illinois State fell short with a final score of 208.5-144.5.

A highlight of the event was senior Eva Reyes breaking the Glen F. Henry facility record in the 1-meter diving competition, achieving a score of 301.80. In swimming events, Sylvia Admire led the Redbirds with a win in the 500-free race, clocking in at 5:12.87.

In relay events, Chloe Tyler, Sydney Hoff, Mia Snow, and Ella Turken took first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.77. Snow also won the 100-yard fly with a time of 55.68. Cassidy Carey claimed victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.96, while Hoff secured first place in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing at 2:23.83.

Tyler earned second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.68, and Giulia Basco finished second in the 200-yard IM at 2:11.34. The team comprising Admire, Lauren Hervey, Turken, and Snow placed second in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:36.51.

The Redbirds will next compete at the UIC Diving Invite on February 8th in Chicago to conclude their regular season schedule.
