Illinois Wesleyan swim teams compete against IIT and Carthage

The Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) swim and dive teams competed against the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and Carthage College on January 18, 2025. The event took place following a senior day celebration in Bloomington, Illinois. The men's team faced defeats against both Carthage College with a score of 241-35 and IIT with a score of 220-36. The women's team secured a victory over IIT, winning 144-105, but fell to Carthage College with a score of 185-100.

Before the competition, IWU honored its three seniors: Emily Marks from Cary, Illinois; Colin McKibben from Green Oaks, Illinois; and Alexa Starkey from Normal, Illinois for their contributions to the team.

Emily Marks began the meet by teaming up with Kayleigh Kuschewski, Sam Borre, and Isabella Cano in the 200-yard medley relay. They achieved second place with a time of 1:56.78.

Natalie Porter was highlighted as the top performer for IWU. She claimed first place in both her events: the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:53.63 and the 500-yard freestyle clocking at 5:24.06. Kayleigh Kuschewski also secured an individual win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:15.74 and finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:13.46.

Marks achieved second place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle (26.58) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.57). Borre placed second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:23.96) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:44.84).

Carter Dilger secured third place in the men's category for the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.07 and fifth place in the men's side's best performance this season for the 100-yard freestyle at 50.86 seconds.

Jacob Nacional achieved third place in his event, lowering his season-best time by four seconds to finish at 5:05.59 in the men's category for the 500-yard freestyle.

Colin McKibben improved his season-best time by nearly seven seconds to earn fifth place in his event for men’s category for his performance at tagging wall at time of11 minutes18seconds29milliseconds .

The Titans will compete again on February1st against Franklin College at Franklin Middle School located within Franklin , Indiana .
