The Illinois State Basketball Coaches Show will take place tonight at Rob Dob's Restaurant and Bar in Bloomington. The event, presented by The O'Brien Auto Team, features Illinois State head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon and women's basketball head coach Kristen Gillespie.
For those unable to attend in person, the show will be broadcast live on WJBC 1230 AM, the Varsity Network, and GoRedbirds.com. Coach Pedon and Coach Gillespie will discuss last week's games and preview upcoming matches in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).
Kristen Gillespie's segment begins at 6 p.m., hosted by Greg Halbleib. She will be joined by Elyce Knudsen, a graduate guard averaging 13.1 points per game in her first season with the Redbirds. Knudsen recently scored a season-high of 24 points against UIC, contributing to Illinois State's back-to-back road victories last week.
Illinois State's women's team improved to a 5-2 record in MVC play after defeating Valparaiso and UIC. Shannon Dowell scored 22 points against Valparaiso while Nevaeh Thomas achieved her seventh double-double of the year with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Maya Wong also contributed significantly with a 20-point performance against UIC.
Ryan Pedon's segment starts at 6:45 p.m., hosted by John Fitzgerald and Mike Matthews. He will be accompanied by Dalton Banks, who has averaged 9.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game this season for the Redbirds. Banks recorded consecutive games with 13 points recently.
The men's team is coming off a victory over Missouri State with Johnny Kinziger scoring 19 points to help overturn a deficit, while Landon Wolf posted his first career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Illinois State hosts Indiana State Tuesday night before facing Bradley for their first meeting this season in the I-74 Rivalry.
The weekly coaches show schedule includes appearances at both Rob Dob's and Avanti’s through March.
