Illinois State University's soccer team has announced the addition of Sophia Skoubis to their roster for the fall 2025 season. Head coach Raleigh DeRose confirmed that Skoubis, a defender from Naperville, Illinois, will be joining the Redbirds as a graduate student.
Skoubis spent her previous two seasons playing for Coastal Carolina after starting her college career at Missouri in 2022. During her time with the Chanticleers, she appeared in 23 games and made three starts last season. She holds a bachelor's degree in recreation and sport management.
In high school, Skoubis had a notable career at Naperville Central. She scored one goal and provided three assists while playing from the back line. Her achievements include being a three-time all-conference selection and contributing to the team's success in winning the 2021 DuPage Valley Conference championship along with two regional championships. As captain during her senior year in 2021, she led Naperville Central to a 15-game unbeaten streak and earned an all-state selection.
The announcement was shared on GoRedbirds.com and through the Illinois State Redbirds App, which provides fans with information on tickets, athletic fund gifts, multimedia content, merchandise, photos, and more.
