Illinois State University will host its 15th annual Play4Kay game on February 2 at CEFCU Arena, where the Redbirds women's basketball team will face Missouri State. The event supports the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, dedicated to fighting cancers affecting women.

The university extends an invitation to cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer to register for four complimentary game tickets and attend a pre-game reception at 1 p.m. in the Legends Room at CEFCU Arena. At halftime, there will be an on-court recognition for all cancer survivors and current patients of any type of cancer.

Illinois State has been recognized for its efforts in supporting the cause, winning the Division I BCS and Non-BCS national awards three times consecutively. Last year, the Redbirds raised $38,000 during their Play4Kay game, contributing to a total of nearly $340,000 over 14 years.

The Play4Kay initiative was founded by Kay Yow, former head women's basketball coach at North Carolina State University. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, Yow battled the disease until her death in 2009. Her legacy continues through the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which has raised over $8 million nationwide for cancer research.

For further details or to contribute to the fundraising efforts, individuals are encouraged to visit Illinois State's team fundraising page.

GoRedbirds.com and the Illinois State Redbirds App provide information on tickets, donations to the Weisbecker Athletic Fund, multimedia content, merchandise, photos, and more.
