The Weisbecker Athletic Fund (WAF) concluded its 2024 fundraising campaign with notable success, contributing significantly to the growth and support of Illinois State student-athletes. The campaign raised a total of $1,044,633, reflecting substantial increases in key areas.

Scholarship support saw significant contributions, with the Redbird Athletic Scholarship Fund (RASF) receiving $304,304—a 30 percent increase from 2023—directly benefiting student-athlete scholarships. Additionally, the Redbird Priority Seating Funds collected $673,336 from season ticket contributions that also support scholarships.

Membership in the WAF grew with 187 donors increasing their contributions from the previous year and 135 new donors joining. Ninety-two donors became members of the 110% Club and 65 joined the Level Up Club. New donations amounted to $255,727 in 2024.

Sport-specific funds also experienced growth, totaling $490,607 compared to $485,103 in 2023.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support of our donors throughout 2024," stated Illinois State Interim Director of Athletics Dr. Jeri Beggs. "We saw increases in key areas of the Weisbecker Athletic Fund, which allows us to elevate the student-athlete experience here at Illinois State. I'm excited to build upon these successes in 2025 and strengthen the foundation that supports our Redbird student-athletes."

In September 2024, Redbird Athletics introduced the Battle Bird Society—a giving program aimed at providing resources for the athletics department—which attracted 15 members within four months.

Major gifts played a significant role as well; Illinois State Athletics received 25 major gifts (each over $25,000) during the year. These contributions are earmarked for special initiatives focused on capital projects and other enhancements within Redbird Athletics.
