The Illinois Wesleyan University men's swim and dive team faced a challenging dual meet against Wabash College on January 24, 2025. The competition took place at Fort Natatorium, where the Little Giants secured a decisive victory over the Titans with a score of 161-33.
Several Illinois Wesleyan swimmers achieved notable placements in various events. Senior Carter Dilger from Sellersburg, Indiana, excelled by finishing second in both his events. He clocked a personal best of 2:02.51 in the 200-yard individual medley and improved his time to 5:00.60 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Freshman Jacob Nacional from Bolingbrook, Illinois, also delivered strong performances with a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly at 54.75 seconds and third place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:05.99.
Two other freshmen contributed to the team's efforts. Tate Thomas from Joliet, Illinois, earned third place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.36 and second place in the 100-yard freestyle at 51.50 seconds. Ben Huk from Des Plaines, Illinois, secured third place in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.37 seconds and finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.82.
Senior Colin McKibben from Green Oaks, Illinois, participated in two events, achieving fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.73 seconds and fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.78.
The relay team composed of McKibben, Huk, Dilger, and Nacional placed third overall in the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:45.33.
Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will compete against Franklin College on February 1 at Franklin Middle School starting at 1 p.m ET.
