Illinois State sets new single-round golf record at Sea Best Intercollegiate

The Illinois State women's golf team made a significant achievement at the Sea Best Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Nevada. The team set a new school record for the lowest single-round score in program history, with a 279. This score surpasses the previous record by two strokes, which was set during the fall season on September 8 and October 22.

After two rounds, Illinois State is tied with Florida for first place with a combined score of 569. South Alabama holds third place, trailing by seven strokes. Other teams in the tournament include Florida Gulf Coast (580), Coastal Carolina (582), Florida Southern (587), Jacksonville (587), Stetson (588), Richmond (590), Daytona State (592), Navy (592), Seminole State (605), USC Upstate (614), Lipscomb (627), and Holy Cross (640).

Freshman Jesica Jolly led Illinois State on the opening day by tying the school's freshman single-round record with a career-low score of 69. She enters the final day tied for first individually. Her teammate Jinyoung Yun follows closely behind, currently in 11th place after rounds of 74 and 69.

Lory Paradis maintained consistency with two even-par rounds of 72, placing her tied for 12th as they head into the final round. Another freshman, Elise Fennell, matched Jolly's freshman record in her second round with a score of 69 and stands tied for 16th overall. Morgan Jones completed both rounds one stroke over par at 73 each and is tied for 21st position.

The Redbirds will compete alongside Florida and South Alabama in the final round scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
