After hosting three consecutive meets, the Illinois Wesleyan University's men's and women's swim and dive teams are set to compete against Franklin College on Saturday, February 1. The meet will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern Time at Franklin Middle School in Franklin, Indiana.
The women's team last participated in a triangular meet on January 18 against the Illinois Institute of Technology and Carthage College. Junior Natalie Porter from Danville, Illinois achieved first place in both the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.06 and the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:53.63. Her performance earned her the title of CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, January 21.
The men's team recently competed against Wabash College on January 24. Senior Carter Dilger from Sellersburg, Indiana secured two runner-up positions in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.51 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.60, achieving personal bests for this season.
Illinois Wesleyan University and Franklin College have maintained a competitive relationship since the 2015-16 season. In their meetings, Franklin's men's team holds an all-time record of 8-0 against IWU, while the women's team has an overall record of 1-6-1 against Franklin, including a tie in their first meeting in 2016 with scores of 111-111.
Their most recent encounter was in Bloomington, Illinois where Franklin emerged victorious with scores of 219-74 for the women’s team and 177-104 for the men’s team.
