The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team began their 2025 season with matches against Wabash College and Cedarville University on February 1. The Titans, currently at a 0-3 record, traveled to Crawfordsville, Indiana for these encounters.

In the first match against Wabash College, Illinois Wesleyan lost 6-1. Junior Griffin Hammond and sophomore Chase Tomecki secured a victory in the third doubles slot by defeating Jett Brownlee and Ethan Koeneman from Wabash with a score of 6-4. This win marked Tomecki's first collegiate doubles victory. However, Wabash won the other two doubles matches to gain an advantage heading into singles play.

Hammond also achieved success in singles competition by winning his match in the No. 5 position against Blake Discher II of Wabash. He took the first set through a tiebreaker at 7-6(6) and clinched the second set with a score of 6-2.

In their second match of the day, Illinois Wesleyan faced Cedarville University but was unable to secure any points, losing 7-0. The closest contest came at No. 1 singles where junior Ian Turnbull initially won a tiebreaker set at 7-6(4) but eventually lost after a super tiebreaker with scores of 7-6(4), and then falling short at 10-5.

Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will host Lawrence University for their first home match of the season on February 7 at Evergreen Racquet Club, with the first serve scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
