The Illinois Wesleyan University swim and dive teams competed against Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana. The Titans faced defeats on both the men's and women's sides, with scores of 166-69 and 167-94, respectively.
Despite the losses, the Titans secured seven first-place finishes. Senior Carter Dilger achieved victories in the 100-yard backstroke (55.37) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.63), setting a new season-best in the backstroke event. Freshman Jacob Nacional also claimed two wins in the 100-yard butterfly (55.20) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.72), both personal bests.
Freshman Tate Thomas excelled in the men's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:26.51, significantly improving his previous record from January.
In relay events, Dilger, Nacional, Thomas, and freshman Ben Huk earned third place in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.14.
On the women's side, junior Natalie Porter won the 1000-yard freestyle at 11:09.01. Sophomore Sam Borre took first place in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:16.70.
Borre joined senior Emily Marks, junior Kayleigh Kuschewski, and freshman Julia Jozwiak for second place in the women's 200-yard medley relay at a time of 2:00.40.
The Titans will have a two-week break before heading to Kenosha for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Swim and Dive Championships from February 19 to February 22.
