Illinois State University's sophomore forward, Chase Walker, has been recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. His recent performances against Belmont and Valparaiso were pivotal in earning him this accolade.
During these games, Walker maintained an average of 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game. He achieved a shooting accuracy of 78.3%, making 18 out of 23 shots from the field. Additionally, he had a notable assist-to-turnover ratio of 10-to-1, which was the seventh-best in the NCAA for that week. His field goal percentage ranked as the 14th-best nationally over the same period.
The Redbirds secured an 81-78 victory over Belmont at the beginning of the week with Walker contributing significantly by scoring 22 points, securing six rebounds, and providing one assist while hitting nine out of his twelve shots. Against Valparaiso on Saturday, Walker scored 24 points on nine-of-eleven shooting attempts and recorded a career-high seven assists along with four rebounds.
Illinois State University is set to play again on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., facing off against UIC Flames in Chicago.
