Illinois State University's men's basketball team is set to face the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Flames in a road game on Wednesday, February 5, at Credit Union 1 Arena. The Redbirds are currently enjoying a two-game winning streak and have made significant improvements this season, jumping 329 position rankings in the NCAA.

ISU's offensive efficiency has been notable, with the team ranking 10th nationally in three-point field goal percentage and maintaining an adjusted offensive percentage of 112.4 according to KenPom ratings. "This season Illinois State has had five games with five or fewer turnovers in a game," highlights the team's disciplined play.

Chase Walker, ISU forward, is drawing fouls at a rate of 7.7 per 40 minutes, placing him sixth-highest nationally. Meanwhile, freshman Jack Daugherty has made an impressive start by tying for eighth-most three-pointers by an ISU freshman.

The Redbirds' depth is reflected as seven different players have led scoring across their first 23 games. Their recruitment class for the next season ranks 60th nationally with four promising signees.

In contrast, UIC has experienced mixed results recently but boasts strong individual performances from players like Javon Jackson and Ahmad Henderson. Filip Skobalj and Ahmad Henderson each scored 20 points in their recent loss to Indiana State.

Notably, ISU legend Doug Collins was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame last October. Additionally, sophomore guard Johnny Kinziger was named to the Bracketeer.org All-American watch list.

As Illinois State prepares for its upcoming game against UIC, they aim to continue their successful run this season while showcasing their growth and potential on the court.
