The Illinois State women's tennis team is set to travel to New York for a weekend of matches. The Redbirds, with a current record of 3-2, will face Fordham University on Friday at the Cary Leeds Center and Saint John's on Saturday at the USTA National Tennis Center.

In their last outing, Illinois State secured a 5-2 victory against Marquette Golden Eagles. The team achieved two doubles wins and four singles victories in that match.

Illinois State has had a strong start to the spring season with wins over Western Illinois, University of Illinois-Springfield, and Marquette. Key players include the No. 1 doubles pair Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli. Caculovic has also been playing in the No. 1 singles position throughout the season.

Fordham University, part of the Atlantic-10 Conference, recently defeated Temple University with a score of 5-2. Julianne Nguyen led Fordham by winning her match at No. 1 singles against Irmak Ozturk with scores of 6-4, 6-4. In doubles play, Lorraine Bergmann and Lily Bergmann triumphed over Temple's Shevita Aulana and Maria Martinez.

Saint John's University belongs to the Big East Conference and recorded a recent win over Morgan State with a scoreline of 4-0. Nicoline Sartz-Lunde was prominent for Saint John's by winning her No. 1 singles match against Hannah Smith with scores of 6-1 (UF). In doubles competition, Alicia Gomez and Victoria Papadopoulo claimed victory over Morgan State's Hannah Smith and Aleksandra Evdokimov.
