Illinois State track and field concludes day one of Keck Select Invitational

The Illinois State track and field team concluded the first day of the Keck Select Invitational on Friday evening at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

Sophomore Ava Lawless claimed victory in the women's pentathlon with a total of 3353 points. She achieved personal bests in three events: high jump (1.57m), shot put (10.15m), and long jump (5.69m). Freshman Sydney Skarich secured second place with 3237 points.

In the men's heptathlon, freshman Braeden Brown is leading after four events with a score of 2802 points. Brown ended the day by setting a personal record in the high jump, clearing 1.98 meters (6-6).

The Redbirds will continue their participation in the Keck Select Invitational on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
