Illinois State gymnastics is set to compete in the George McGinty Alumni Quad Meet this weekend. The event, taking place at TU Arena in Towson, Maryland, will feature Illinois State alongside host Towson, Bowling Green, and William & Mary. Originally scheduled for 6 p.m., the meet has been moved to a 4 p.m. start due to anticipated inclement weather.
ISU Head Coach Bob Conkling shared his expectations: "This meet should be a tight competition between all the schools. Towson could be our strongest competition since they are ranked so close to us, but Bowling Green is on the rise and had their best team score last weekend."
Illinois State enters the meet ranked No. 34 nationally as a team, with notable rankings of No. 22 on floor and No. 27 on vault. The Redbirds have recently secured three consecutive dual-meet victories over Northern Illinois and Southeast Missouri State.
Key performers for ISU include seniors Mya Robinson and Jaye Mack. Robinson earned Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week honors after achieving two all-around wins last week, including a career-best floor score of 9.850 against NIU. Mack received MIC Performance of the Week recognition following her standout vault performance at SEMO with a personal-best score of 9.925.
Towson is currently ranked No. 38 nationally and holds a No. 26 ranking on bars. The Tigers are two-time defending East Atlantic Gymnastics League champions and finished second in recent competitions.
Bowling Green ranks No. 58 nationally with strong performances on vault and floor events, while William & Mary stands at No. 64 nationally with notable achievements on beam and bars.
The meet will be available for viewing via YouTube Live, with live stats provided by StatBroadcast.
